Chiral numerical renormalization group

چکیده
The interplay between the Kondo screening of quantum impurities (by electronic channels to which they couple) and interimpurity RKKY interactions (mediated by same channels) has been extensively studied. However, effect unidirectional (e.g., chiral or helical edge modes 2D topological materials) greatly restrict mediated interactions, only more recently come under scrutiny, it can drastically alter physics. Here we take Wilson's numerical renormalization group (NRG), most established method for treating impurity models, extend systems consisting two coupled at different locations channel(s). This is challenging due incompatibility unidirectionality with one main ingredients in NRG -- mapping channel(s) a Wilson chain tight-binding end hopping amplitudes decay exponentially distance. We bridge this gap introducing "Wilson ladder" chains, demonstrate that construction successfully captures channel(s), as well distance impurities. use order study single channel, showing all local properties thermodynamic quantities are indifferent distance, correspond separate single-impurity models. Extensions and/or possible.

A NUMERICAL RENORMALIZATION GROUP APPROACH FOR AN ELECTRON-PHONON INTERACTION
A finite chain calculation in terms of Hubbard X-operators is explored by setting up a vibronic Harniltonian. The model conveniently transformed into a form so that in the case of strong coupling a numerical renormalization group approach is applicable. To test the technique, a one particle Green function is calculated for the model Harniltonian
متن کامل1 Wilson’s Numerical Renormalization Group
The idea of the numerical renormalization group (NRG) for a quantum-mechanical system with Hamiltonian H is to obtain the many-body eigen-states and eigenvalues on all energy scales ω 1 > ω 2 >. .. in a sequence of steps, with each step corresponding to a distinct energy or length scale [1]. This is achieved by a formal procedure of tracing out high energy states to (RG) transformation R relate...
متن کاملChiral hierarchies, compositeness, and the renormalization group.
A wide class of models involve the fine–tuning of significant hierarchies between a strong–coupling “compositeness” scale, and a low energy dynamical symmetry breaking scale. We examine the issue of whether such hierarchies are generally endangered by Coleman–Weinberg instabilities. A careful study using perturbative two–loop renormalization group methods finds that consistent large hierarchies...

متن کاملA Renormalization Group for Hamiltonians: Numerical Results
We describe a renormalization group transformation that is related to the breakup of golden invariant tori in Hamiltonian systems with two degrees of freedom. This transformation applies to a large class of Hamiltonians, is conceptually simple, and allows for accurate numerical computations. In a numerical implementation, we find a nontrivial fixed point and determine the corresponding critical...
